East Dubuque Lions Club & Foundation's Unveiling of the Illinois State Historical Marker for the East Dubuque Community • Saturday, Sept. 30 — 11 AM - 1 PM • East Dubuque District Library • The marker commemorates "Indian Kate", who landed at Olde Jordon's Landing after the Bad Axe Massacre in 1832 at Victory, WI to end the Black Hawk War; she was adopted by the local Jordon family, married an immigrant farmer and raised 8 children; some of her direct descendants will be in attendance at the ceremony at the library, which also features exhibits & displays; open to the public, rain or shine; donations are still being accepted to place an honorable tombstone in the East Dubuque Cemetery at her grave site
